Tina with the ladies at Severn View Day Centre Wednesday 24 October 2012

My husband and I were kindly invited to Severn View Day Centre in Chepstow recently to meet their knitters. We had a lovely afternoon having a chat, a nice cup of tea and a wonderful piece of cake and to top it all we came away with over 100 hats!

Hats4Heroes had a busy few months at the begining of 2012 as the local and national press heard about our campaign. Tina and two of her fellow knitters Glenys Brayley and Liz Phillips were invited to appear on ‘Daybreak’ in March 2012. We all had a lovely time and met Carol Vorderman and Patrick Duffy – in fact Liz was challenged by Kate Garroway on live tv to knit a hat for Patrick – after a bit of turbo knitting, the challenge was duly met and Patrick happily went away with his new hat!

We also appeared on Connie Fisher’s program on BBC Wales in April 2012.

The media attention has helped spread the word and we now have knitters from all over the UK and beyond.

Hats4Heroes had a surprise visit from Sound of Musicstar Connie Fisher recently and she was keen to see what we have been doing. Connie is recorded a new series which focuses on community based voluntary organisations in Wales. The new series was shown on BBC Wales this Spring.
